1. PRESENT: John Moorhouse (Treasurer), Gillian Morrison, Angie Hurst (minutes), Gabbi Lees, Loz Mitchell, David Scrivens, Sally Kadjenouri and Laura Wigg.
2. APOLOGIES: Alan Heath
3. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: These were read and agreed
4. MATTERS ARISING: John reported that donations were coming in for advertising on the website. To date these are from Fernlea, Alverton, The Bulls Head, Premier Garage, Forrester’s Undertakers, The dale, Bredda’s B&B and Trough Ivy House (Launders).
5. WEBSITE: The website is going from strength to strength. Angie gave John a copy of the Alton Surgery practice leaflet so that Neil could update it on the website. Also a disc and some photographs of the Alton Fete to put on the website. Dave said he would arrange to meet Neil and put details on the website about funding for local projects.
6. PUMP AREA AND NEW ROAD GARDEN: Dave has applied for the funding; Dave reported that we may need planning permission from the Parish Council to go ahead with this project. Dave agreed to meet Arthur Forrester when funding was available.
7. YOUTH PROJECT: Loz has set up the Alton Skate Society who met on the 24th May. Loz is the only adult at present and is acting Chairman. He is hoping that the youngsters will take it upon themselves to elect officers at a later date. Sally offered her services as Secretary if she was needed. The group will meet once a week at different venues Matlock or Cheadle skate parks, and Loz will be arranging to transport them with the help of another adult. Dave gave Loz a draft constitution as requested by Angie. Dave added that the group will need a secretary and a bank account.
8. SPORTS FIELD: This is still on hold. Sally reported that in the past a group was set up and discussions were held with the schools and SCC, but this was put in abeyance until the fate of St Johns school was known. If anyone is interested in looking at this project again they can attend the next meeting.
9. TRANSPORT CO-ORDINATOR: Angie publicised the need for a co-ordinator at the Church Fete and Laura has come to the meeting to find out more information. Dave explained how the rural transport scheme worked and Laura offered to go and do a survey in the village to see if she could find a need for this project. Some of the transport could be used for a bus to Ashbourne or Leek market maybe on a monthly basis or trips for the old age pensioners or the playgroup.
10. ALLOTMENTS: Mr Wigg spoke to Angie and Alan at the Fete and was looking into the possibility of a site for allotments in the village. He would come back to the meeting when he had more information.
11. ANY OTHER BUSINESS: It was decided to advertise for an Information Co-ordinator at St John’s Fete. Angie agreed to do this. It was felt we needed someone to be in charge of getting information out to villagers who do not use the website. It was also decided to do a new Village Appraisal as the last one was 7 years ago. Dave agreed we would be able to get funding for this. Laura asked about the Heritage Centre project which had been put on hold. John agreed to talk to Jonathan Shepherd as he had been involved in talks over an environmental project recently and maybe these could be combined. John also agreed to talk to Alan to see if he could contact the diocese about the former St John’s school to be used by the community.
12. DATE TIME AND PLACE OF THE NEXT MEETINGS: Tuesday 10th July, 11th September, 9th October and 13th November 2007 at the Royal Oak Pub at 7.30
