ALTON REGENERATION GROUP (SRB)
Minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 13th March 2007 at The Royal Oak, Alton.
1. PRESENT: John Moorhouse (Treasurer), Alan Heath (Chair) Dave Scrivens, Gillian Morrison and Angie Hurst (minutes), Sally Khadjenouri, Chris Leese and Sue Green.
2. APOLOGIES: Tony Stimson offered apologies not easy to get to meetings but he would be happy to help with anything if called upon.
3. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: These were read and agreed
4. MATTERS ARISING: Nothing arising
5. WEBSITE: Neil Jefferyes attended the meeting as he is interested in helping to manage the website. He has met Mark Smallwood and they have agreed to liaise on the website. Neil suggested that we needed a named correspondent for the website to register. Alan agreed to be the named person for ARG. Neil suggested that the front page of the website be changed giving more information about Alton Village. It was agreed that this could be done. It was agreed that we should have 2 calendars for the site, one for the village hall and one for other major events in the village. It was also agreed that a what’s on page would be of interest. Alan reported that the practice leaflet for the surgery was now on the website. It was suggested that e mails should go to Neil now, and he would agree this with Mark. It was agreed that it might be possible to add a website advert in the Parish magazine, and the Moorlands messenger.
6. PUMP AREA AND NEW ROAD GARDEN: This is in hand and Dave agreed to inform the Parish Council. He would be seeing through a grant application next week.
7. SPORTS FIELD: No one has come forward to take on the tennis court idea. It was thought maybe a multi purpose sports pitch might be more used.
8. YOUTH PROJECT: Chris Leese attended the meeting as he has had some experience of youth projects before. He explained that it would involve a lot of work by the young people interested in this project but they would need some help from an adult. Dave looked at some prices for skate parks. We would be looking at £35,000 to £70,000 pounds for this sort of project. A suitable site and planning permission would have to be in hand before anyone could apply for funding. Also a design would have to be put forward. Dave offered to contact Robert Goodley and meet with him and a possible land owner who may be prepared to sell or lease some land.
9. NEW FUNDING APPLICATIONS: These would come into effect in September.
10. ANY OTHER BUSINESS: Dave gave dates of future meetings that any member of the group could go to for information on funding. John reported that the Parish Council will help the Village Hall committee pay towards the insurance on the playground. Gillian reported that she had been contacted by an ex Alton parishioner who was interested in heritage funding for the restoration of an old painting. Dave said he would look into this and Gillian gave him a contact number. It was agreed that we would call the group Alton Regeneration Group ARG.
