ALTON RURAL REGENERATION GROUP
MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD AT THE ROYAL OAK, ALTON
ON TUESDAY 11th APRIL 2006.
1. PRESENT: Angie Hurst, Dave Scrivens, John Moorhouse, Alan Heath, Gillian Morrison
and Linda Goodwin.
2. APOLOGIES: Claire Head.
3. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: These were read and agreed.
4. RECRUITMENT DRIVE: It was decided we would use the Church Fetes this year to try and recruit more people. Dave informed us that the other groups who had held open forums had not been very successful in getting many villagers to attend only 7 and 9 people turned up at the last two forums he attended. It was decided that the amount of work involved holding an open forum would be too much if only 7 or 8 came.
5. PUBLICITY POSTER: John’s poster was accepted. It was suggested that we send out flyers with information on one side to publicise what the group had achieved and a note on the other side asking for volunteers to help with ideas for future projects.
6. PLAYGROUND UPDATE: Alan had arranged for a land drainage company to do a report on the playground area suggesting what needed to be done. This is not ready yet. Lappset still to do the matting. Angie would have a meeting with Mark Kerrigan from Alton Towers with a view to help with funding for turfing the area outside the matting. It would be very helpful if Alton Towers could actually do this for us as we do not have the expertise to do this well. Also for the under seat area and a better surface for the main entrance. It was agreed Angie could go ahead with this.
7. WEBSITE: Angie agreed to look at the list for B&B’s and Pubs who have not paid to be on the website. There were three bills from Mark Subscription £49.99 Domain name £10.56 and Hosting Domain £117.50. It was agreed that John could pay these bills. There is an events diary on the website as yet to be used.
8. PUMP AREA: Alan and Dave agreed that money may be available from the Heritage lottery fund. The Big lottery fund would not be available until November.
9. GATEWAY: Angie said that the gateway looked really good with the daffodils out. Gillian has planted some Primroses and violets recently.
10. ANY OTHER BUSINESS: It was pointed out that the railings on the right hand side of the river were looking very shabby. Angie agreed to contact Barry Mycock to see if anything could be done.
11. DATE TIME AND PLACE OF NEXT MEETING: Tuesday May 9th 7.30pm at The Royal Oak Alton.
