ALTON RURAL REGENERATION GROUP
MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD AT THE ROYAL OAK, ALTON
ON TUESDAY 10th JANUARY 2006.
1. PRESENT: Angie Hurst, Gillian Morrison, John Moorhouse, Alan Heath,
Ruth Murray-Walker, and Dave Scrivens.
2. APOLOGIES: Sarah Newland-Pratt, Claire Head , Linda Goodwin and Tony Stimson.
3. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: Were read and agreed.
4. PLAYGROUND UPDATE: Angie reported that she had met the grounds men from Alton Towers in December. It was there opinion that the outer rim of the playground would pick up in the spring and could be patched with turf or reseeded. The matting area they felt needed looking at by the contractor. Alan had spoken to Lappset and they agreed to redo the matting area, Alan asked that this be done in the spring. ARRG would look at contributing to the turf. It should be noted that the grant application for the Playground was initially applied for by the Village Hall Committee. Alan Heath was the Project Manager and assisted with the funding application and oversaw the installation of the new equipment. The Regeneration Group were not involved with the planning and application for funding but backed Alan’s involvement in managing the project and assisting the Village Hall Committee.
5. WEBSITE: Mark has been paid £100+£10 by cheque for re-registration of the website + the domain name. He has also been paid £49 for work hosting the site. The Plan of the Surgery is now on the website. The AGM will go on the website.
6. B & B DIRECTORY: Ruth has collected £30 from two B&B’s this is still ongoing.
7. PUBLICITY AND RECRUITMENT DRIVE: Ruth agreed to follow up on the list hat Sarah has from the summer fetes. Angie agreed to inform by telephone village groups about the AGM. Dave Scrivens pointed out that it may be possible to help with funding for village groups if they contacted us. Dave Scrivens agreed to chair an open forum in March where other groups and the ARRG could put up stands informing the village of what has gone on in recent years.
8. CALENDAR: Gillian passed on a cheque for £63.50 for Calendars and maps sold at her shop. John agreed to contact Claire about the sale of Calendars.
9. GATEWAY UPKEEP: Ongoing. John is still working on the stone. John has had permission to remove the old Alton signs from the Gateway.
10. VILLAGE HALL: Alan has mentioned stage funding to the Village Hall Committee, it is their intention to look at other Village Hall stages.
11. CAROLS AT THE ROUNDHOUSE: It was unanimously agreed that this was an excellent evening enjoyed by all. £200.95 was collected in donations for soup and wine, £21 for candles and holders. There is £60 worth of candles still in stock. About £79 was made on the night. Thank you to everyone who helped it was a success.
12. ANY OTHER BUSINESS: Alan agreed to update the contact list as this was out of date. ARRG will sponsor a Race for Race Night at the Village Hall. Angie agreed to investigate CCTV as this had been put on hold. Dave Scrivens informed us that he would be funded for at least 2 more years.
13. DATE OF NEXT MEETINGS The AGM is on Tuesday February 7th and the following meeting is Tuesday March 7th2006 at the Royal Oak at 7.30pm.
