ALTON PRIMARY CARE CENTRE
Newsletter No 1 — November 2005

News from Prima 200
Prima 200 is the company that will own and manage your new building on behalf of Staffordshire Moorlands Primary Care Trust (PCT).  AMEC is the company that is constructing it.
Construction of the new Alton centre began on Monday 10th October — unfortunately, due to the weather (!) work on the foundations couldn’t start on time, but we’ll catch up.
Over the coming month you’ll see the foundations being dug and some of the drainage being put in.  If the weather allows we’ll start the block work: you can check the emerging design against the floor plan of the finished building that is posted on your village website at www.alton-staffs.co.uk.
Fingers crossed that the predicted ‘big freeze’ doesn’t happen and that the building is finished as scheduled in early summer 2006.
Contact Numbers
Next month we’ll be publishing a telephone number that you can ring if you’re having any problems with the site.

For general enquiries call the Prima 200 office on (01782) 657278.

Services for the New Centre
The new facility is designed to accommodate Dr. Webster’s dispensing practice.  In addition, Staffordshire Moorlands PCT has invested to make sure the building is of a sufficient size to accommodate a number of additional services for the people of Alton and the surrounding area.
It is proposed that the following services will be provided from the building in future:
<sum> Clinics run by specialist healthcare professionals for people with long-term conditions, e.g. diabetes, osteoporosis and respiratory problems
<sum> Blood checks
<sum> Diabetic foot care
<sum> Early detection tests
<sum> Spirometry (lung function) tests
<sum> District Nursing clinics, e.g. for dressings
<sum> Health visiting sessions, e.g. baby/children’s clinics, health advice sessions
