ALTON RURAL REGENERATION GROUP
MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD AT TH E ROYAL OAK, ALTON
ON TUESDAY 4th OCTOBER 2005.

1.   PRESENT:   Angie Hurst, Gillian Morrison, John Moorhouse, Alan Heath,  
                         Claire Head, Tony Stimson, Linda Goodwin.    

2. APOLOGIES:  Dave Scrivens, Josi Shepherd, Maxine Rowlinson and Sarah Newland
Tony Stimpson was introduced and welcomed to the meeting as a possible new recruit.

3. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING:  Were read and agreed.

4. PLAYGROUND UPDATE: Alan reported that it was mostly in place, completion would be around 20th October. The opening would be on 22nd October at 11am Alan will confirm this at a later date. Linda agreed to check with Alton Towers that the Tweenies would do the opening. Additional fund raising will take place on the 12th November at the family Race Night at the Village Hall.

5.      WEBSITE:  John and Alan reported that there had been some hits on the website.
It was strongly felt that B&B’s should encouraged once again to advertise on the website to increase the value of the website.  John would give Claire John Newports telephone number as he could update Village Hall activities on the website.

6.       PUBLICITY AND RECRUITMENT DRIVE:  Ongoing, looking positive.

7.      CALENDAR: Claire is happy that this is going forward. A price of £7.00 was agreed.
 
8.    GATEWAY UPKEEP:  Ongoing.
               
9.     BEST KEPT VILLAGE:  Alton was given a commendation which was positive. There will be a feedback about the Dimble Lane Project.

10.     ROUNDHOUSE: This is in Claire’s hands and will take place with the traditional format on Friday 9th December 6-8pm.

11.    ANY OTHER BUSINESS: Claire reported that she went to the RSB meeting, she had a really nice day it was very interesting, she visited the Churnet Valley railway and the Canal Basin at Froghall where work was ongoing. Nationwide projects seemed to have been a success.
          £40.00 was collected for the B&B directory. Alan reported that Dave Scrivens was very unhappy that his name had been linked with the meeting about the Surgery arranged by the PPI/PCT,  he stated that he had no input in advertising the first meeting in the press. Dave passed on  contact telephone numbers for Alan and John to the PPI/PCT. However, neither John or Alan were contacted by the PPI/PCT at any time. Claire was unhappy that we were not kept up to date about the meeting by the PCT as we were promised in the early days of the surgery that the RSB would know what was happening.

12.    DATE OF NEXT MEETINGS:   Tuesdays November 15th and December 6th 2005 at the Royal Oak at 7.30pm.
