ALTON RURAL REGENERATION GROUP
MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD AT TH E ROYAL OAK, ALTON
ON TUESDAY 6th SEPTEMBER 2005.



1.   PRESENT:   Angie Hurst, Gillian Morrison, John Moorhouse, Alan Heath,  
                          Sarah Newland, Claire Head, Ruth Murray –Walker, Eddie Bailey.    

2. APOLOGIES:  Dave Scrivens, Josi Shepherd and Linda Goodwin.

3. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING:  Were read and agreed.

4. MATTERS ARISING: There were none.

5. PLAYGROUND UPDATE:  The Contractors will be starting the playground week beginning 19th September and will complete week beginning the 17th October. The Press release for the playground will be dealt with by Angie. Alan has done most of the work for this project and he was thanked by all the members present. Thanks were also given to those who helped clear the sight, especially Adam Ball for the machinery used and Johnathan Shepherd for his help. Alan informed the meeting that there would be an official opening of the playground on the village hall it’s a knockout competition 22nd/23rd October.

6. WEBSITE:  John now has access to the website for the minutes, this is now active and John will add meetings and minutes as required.

7. B & B DIRECTORY: Ongoing. Alan has spoken to Maxine. Ruth has offered to talk to all the people who were involved from the beginning, i.e. B&B’s and Publicans to move things forward in this area.

8. PUBLICITY AND RECRUITMENT DRIVE:  Sarah will give a list of the people interested from the church fetes and Angie will write a letter to all of them inviting them to refer to the website for future meetings etc. Claire is dealing with A4 Letter heads for the group to use.

9.      CALENDAR:  Claire is taking this on as project leader. Pictures for the Calendar were chosen and Claire will deal with everything. It was decided to have 150 Calendars printed as the sale went so well last year. A price has yet to be decided. Thank you to Eddie Bailey for all his help with photographs.

10.    GATEWAY UPKEEP:  The upkeep for the Gateway will be taken over by the Parish Council in 2006; it will be looked after by the lengths man. Angie agreed to collect Foxglove seeds and to provide some Foxglove plants for the site. We will look at Dimble lane as maybe our next project.

11.   WELL DRESSING: Who do the wells in Alton belong to? Ruth agreed to investigate wells in Alton before we think about this again.
