MINUTES OF MEETING at the Royal Oak (7.45pm) TUESDAY 21st July 2009
1. PRESENT: John Moorhouse, Pat Riesco, Gillian Morrison, Linda Goodwin, Henry Parker
2. APOLOGIES: there were no apologies,
but a welcome to Henry who represents some of the OAP’s who meet regularly in Alton
3. MINUTES of May meeting: were read and agreed
4. MATTERS ARISING: We discussed the content of the leaflet which will be used to advertise the group and to attract interest from local groups & compared it with a leaflet which Henry had helped to produce to promote the Oakamoor sports & fun day which was held in June.
John will talk to Neil again to see about the viability to produce a similar leaflet to include photos of events and projects; carols round the roundhouse, village entrances, play area, surgery etc. John will then contact Dave Scrivens to see if there is any funding available to help pay for the production costs.
Linda to contact Anne Rogers to advertise our group in the parish magazine.
5. PUMP AREA project – John had missed the last PC meeting but would endeavour to get to the one in August or September in order to report at our next meeting.
6. GATEWAY project – Gill suggested planting rhododendrons and azaleas & other shrubs in specific areas that needed upgrading.
7. BEST KEPT VILLAGE project- it was mentioned that the Parish Council had not even entered Alton into the BKV competition this year so John will ask the Parish Council what they are going to do with the £500 we donated solely for that specific purpose ie.improving planting around the village,
If the PC cannot give assurance of the correct use for this money John will ask them to refund the full amount. It was agreed that we could use it for other areas.
8. WEBSITE- Neil is in the process of updating the present site to make the management simpler for the next web manager when the need arises.
9. Eastern access – as mentioned at the last meeting, there is to be a new appraisal and planning directive for the area which involves a public consultation. John stated that Barry Mycock had promised the public & the PC that if he was re-elected he would put pressure on the County Council to include the eastern bypass in the new directive & make it a necessity if further planning applications on the Alton Towers Site are to be permitted.
10.Transport subsidies- John told Henry that he had emailed Dave Scrivens about subsidies to help pay towards the transport costs for the OAP groups. He is awaiting a reply & will let him know as soon as he hears from Dave.
Linda is getting Dave’s phone number so that John can ring him direct.
