ALTON REGENERATION GROUP (SRB)

Minutes of the informal meeting held on Tuesday 13th January at The Royal Oak, Alton.

1.   PRESENT:  Gillian Morrison, David Scrivens, John Moorhouse, Pat Riesco,

2.   APOLOGIES:  Gabby(unable to attend meetings on Tuesdays due to other commitments)

3.   MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING:  These were read, agreed & signed as accurate.

4.   MATTERS ARISING:  As there were only 4 people attending we decided to hold an informal meeting anyway with the AGM due in February.
Dave will bring six more copies of the results from the appraisal in June for projects required by locals in the village to the AGM.

WEBSITE
Although many of the businesses advertising on the website have now donated their yearly contributions to the upkeep of the website, as previously has been mentioned, some of them still haven’t paid which is disappointing, John will endeavour to remind them.
It is now possible to get to the site using alton-staffordshire.co.uk as well as alton-staffs.co.uk.

NOTICEBOARD
All future minutes will be put in the noticeboard prior to their ratification in order to keep interested parties up to date on our discussions.

FINANCIAL REPORT
John will make a full report at the AGM

CAROLS AT THE ROUNDHOUSE-12th DECEMBER 2008
This event was even better attended than previous years & the donations taken which amounted to £212 enabled us to purchase new lights for the Roundhouse itself & the star which went out after the procession, unfortunately John was unable to restore them.
We must thank all those who gave their time & efforts by providing mince pies. the businesses who donated towards the mulled wine & Marie Jari for making such a potent brew.
To the donkey
To the singers & instrumentalists who performed on the night.
A special thanks to Jonathan & Josie for organising the event, road closures etc.
together with providing a superb soup.
Of course a big thankyou to all those who came along to join in the festive event.
Lets hope 2009 is as good.

AOB
After attending the AGM Dave will no longer be the “village agent” ,the funding has ceased for this position ,but there will be dedicated workers for specific projects, with advice for funding, it will be advisable for people to still go through the SRB group to get the relevant information about contacting the SMDC., he will still keep in touch both verbally & through the website.
Dave also advised us to join the Staffordshire Moorlands council(SMCVS) which costs £10.00 per annum,John agreed to propose this at the AGM.
Dave has got Stella’s phone number, he will contact her on 14th January to give her the information for help with transport subsidies for the OAP’s, he is sure that some help can be found to alleviate some of the cost. John gave him Henry’s number as well.
John mentioned that as the Towers has now confirmed that they will not be building the Alton by pass & it was the second most important item to villagers when we completed the 2000 appraisal,it should be on our agenda for the AGM.
1. Do we help organise an action group to lobby the Parish & District Councils?
2. As our numbers are dwindling, John will contact the groups in the village to see if they will send a representative to our AGM.
3. We are sure that they do not know about the funding which is available to them so it would also be a good chance to let them know.
4. Since we have completed many of the projects we set out to do in 2000 it is getting harder to attract people to get involved in new projects so is it necessary to keep our group going at all ?
These are all issues we agreed to bring up at the AGM

5. DATE TIME AND PLACE OF THE NEXT MEETING:
